Ostia Antica

On Tuesday Oct. 25th and Tuesday Nov. 15th our class took trips to Ostia Antica which is Southwest of Rome. It is an ancient seaport of rome with ruins like that of the Roman Forum. Ostia literally means 'mouth' in Latin, which is fitting because Ostia is located at the mouth of the Tiber River and Mediterranean Sea. Ostia was once on the coast of the Mediterranean but now the river shifted its' route and the town is now inland a couple of miles. John and I have to write a paper about walking through this town during the time period when it was thriving. That should be fun..
